Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation

Okay, this is the perfect topic for my first blog entry. I was on a message board last night and got so annoyed by one particular poster that I HAD to post a thread about punctuation. This woman uses apostrophes in her typing like my husband uses salt on his food! Not only does it drive me crazy to see plural words with apostrophes, but she is inconsistent, so some have the doggone marks and some don't, with no rhyme or reason to it. Does she think some of the words just look better with little fancy "things" around them? I don't know, but man, was I bothered by it yesterday.

Then someone replied to my evil post and had the nerve to spell "grammar" wrong: "grammer." Ugh. Then she proceeded to tell us all how smart she sounds when she talks, even if she can't spell or use punctuation.

Can people be insanely smart and be terrible at spelling, grammar, or both? YES. Am I still allowed to be annoyed by it? YES. Especially here. This is my world, people, and you're just along for the ride. At the very least I hope it amuses you -- at the best, perhaps it will inspire or educate.

And for the record, the apostrophe is required only when the subject is possessive, i.e. the girl's bad attitude. LOL
