Ahhh, the California coast

How's that for peaceful? Gorgeous, in'nit? This, my friends, is Point Lobos State Reserve, just south of Carmel-by-the-Sea in the region of the California coast known as Big Sur. The whole area is spectacular. Drive along Highway 1 and see the Pacific on one side, gleaming in the sun, and the majestic mountains on the other side. Breathtaking.
Here is our visitor from Chicago with the boys, perched atop a sandstone rock formation and watching BIG waves roll in.

And here is the wave that will forever be known as "The Drencher." Yes, those are hands up as if they will protect us from the wave -- and it was Garrett who bore the brunt of it, getting, yup, you guessed it, drenched. He was okay with it, though -- even cheerful. How can you be crabby when you're in the midst of such an amazing spot?

We had a lovely day and a great visit. We were sad to see her go, but will visit her in Chicago in the fall. Can't wait.

And a brief PSA for those of you who have PDAs (Palm Pilots and the like): do a backup. Please. Even if you think it's unneccessary. It is NOT unneccessary.

Thank you.

  1. Hi, Jennifer. Thanks for the link! I will reciprocate shortly. I'm also an avid proofreader, so please, feel free to tell me if I've done something horrible like say "your" instead of "you're" (God, I hate that).
