PEOPLE!!!
Please teach your children to listen to adults.
When they sass or backtalk you, please do not act like it is cute. This will only convince them they should do it all the time.
Please help them understand that following directions and being obedient is a necessary component of living in society.
Help them to be reasonably polite ("please, thank you") and to think of others.
Teach them that defiance is an ugly thing and rudeness is not tolerated in a classroom.
Don't make excuses for them. Don't ask for special treatment for them. If your kid does not meet expectations, it is not necessarily the teacher's fault. In fact, in my experience thus far, it has NEVER been the teacher's fault. Your kid doesn't do his/her work or can't do the work? When you're looking for someone to blame, look in the mirror.
Honestly, it's for their own good.
And then perhaps I will not be tempted to beat their sorry little butts in class.
Thank you, thank you very much.
PS -- I did NOT beat anyone's butt today. But I imagined it in glorious Technicolor, with SurroundSound.
Thank you for the PSA.
ReplyDeleteSo true! I have been tempted to beat some butts--- instead have given tongue lashings! As in, "Do I need to glue your butt to the chair?" or "What do you think your mommy is going to say when I tell her what you just did?"
Long Live the Mother Drill Sergeant - she will always be rewarded with well-behaved children. Love, Mom
