Hey, we made it and tonight I finally have internet (although still no email because the computer geek has decided we need the "super-mega" internet. Hopefully in the next day or two. It was quite a drama to get this far, let me tell you.)
Everything went okay, considering we moved about 2,000 miles. The packing crew left much to be desired, I must say. (I found my sewing machine in a box on Wednesday -- the power supply didn't turn up until Friday in a box in another room. Huh.)
We painted the living room, 2 bedrooms, and the entire upstairs of the house (after removing wallpaper borders from 3 rooms). I pulled the carpet from my scrap room and spent the evening before the household goods were delivered pulling tack strips and staples out of the floor.
My new stove got delivered today. It is bee-YOO-tiful. Honestly. Here is a photo of it:
It is solid surface with this awesome Power Boost thingie that super heats the burner for boiling water, etc. It is FAST. Love it. Plus it has a convection oven. Woo hoo. (And of course I used it today. I have 3 kids. You thought I'd make a fancy meal straight away? Naaaah. I made mac-n-cheese, like any self-respecting mom of 3. LOL)
My scrap room is currently piled high with boxes. I am in it right now because my lovely roll top desk is in here, too. In fact, the desk is all you can see from the hallway so the room *appears* to be neat and orderly. We painted it the same color as Bazzill "Dahlia" cardstock -- the purpley-blue I used in my rolodex cards in the exchange, if you have one of those. It is my favorite color and I am most pleased with it.
Our room is a pale aqua with tan and brown linens. Very cool and relaxing.
The kids' surf room is coming along nicely, and I added a new shower curtain to the bathroom that has leaves (like banana leaves, maybe?) and bamboo with a palm tree here and there. Not *too* tropical, but enough to make me happy. Plus I didn't have to paint in there.
We've had visits from friends and neighbors already. Nice to know we were missed. Must run to get some more unpacking done -- but we are here, we are okay, and I will try to stop in every couple of days to keep everyone up to date on the progress we're making.
It's been hot and icky here, but I see San Jose has been extra miserable, so stay cool out there, okay?
Later ----
So glad to see you back online, Jennifer. Your rooms sound lovely, sure you don't want to trek back to the "hot hot hot" bay area and paint my house as well? The paint will dry very fast!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're finally "IN" your house and yay for Mac&Cheese, don't know what I'd do without it. My scrap room is piled with stuff too, at least you have an actual GOOD excuse!
ReplyDeleteLike the new stove bunches, what brand is it? I'm gonna need one of those eventually...
Hope to see you again soon!
