What are you putting out into the world?

I was just thinking about this and talking to the boys about it.

I am a big believer in working FOR things. Like, putting my energy in a positive way to support a candidate or an initiative or a project.

I am not much for working AGAINST stuff.

I mean, working toward raising money for breast cancer research or getting my candidate elected or making my community a better place just seems to make more sense to me. Putting positive energy out there in support of a cause, whatever it is.

I find that I am more effective than if I choose to work against someone or something, if I am filled with hate or anger, I am the one who ends up lesser because of it.

I have my moments of anger and meanness on this blog. But let me say this: once I get it out of my system and out of my brain, I am positive again. I move on and I keep going, every day, working FOR the things I believe in.

I believe this country and the world deserve a President who thinks creatively, who expresses himself effectively, who is willing to accept advice from those who are more knowledgeable than he, who displays intellectual curiosity and humility, and who has consistently chosen to work for causes greater than himself throughout his adult life.

I am working FOR him. To get him elected. I am working FOR change. I choose to look at my life in a positive way. I choose to view my efforts as a force for good in the world. I don't have to work against anyone or anything to make my impact on the world.

If you are working AGAINST someone, think about it. Doesn't it hurt you and those around you to be surrounded by such anger? From McCain's robo calls to some things that are happening in the lives of my friends and family, the negativity in the world threatens to overwhelm us all.

If you're FOR John McCain, hey, that's your choice. I respect that. So get out there and work FOR him. Stop making your fight about Barack Obama. It isn't. It's about John McCain. MY fight is about Barack Obama. Work towards your goal, no matter what it is, in a positive way.

Because that would change the world, too.

  1. You know that long insane ranting email I sent you?

I think what you've just said here clarifies the frustration I was feeling when I wrote that. And I feel a lot better now, thank you!!
