First update with photos from Rob!

I apologize in advance for the lack of detail in this post; Rob uploaded the photos and left no notes of explanation on anything.

Shanghai is a very modern city, with many amazing and beautiful buildings. Unfortunately I don't know most of the buildings. *sigh* The contrast of the sleek new buildings and the older parts of the city is stark. This is the Jade Temple.
It was built in the late 1800s.
Buddhist monks at the temple.

A newsstand. I love the book on the roof. :)

The Oriental Pearl.

A night view of it, all lit up.
The hotel where they are staying in Shanghai.

He is having a grand time; the jet lag has eased and he is learning, soaking it all in, and enjoying every minute. He is 13 hours ahead of us, so we spoke to him via Skype at 10 this morning (11 pm his time). The kids think it's great they can tell Dad "Go to bed," when we hang up the call. LOL

We're doing fine at home; looks like we'll be here all week, though; the weather up north is abysmal. We made a Michaels run today and got some projects for the boys in the $1 section, so we'll work on those tomorrow and I have a few things in the works for the next few days.

Three nights down, eight to go!

  2. So nice to see all the pictures. I'd been to Shanghai when I was three, before most of those buildings came up.

  3. They talked about Fargo on our news...they're getting hammered with snow up there! Yeesh!

Glad Rob is enjoying himself. As for the rest of you, it'll go faster than you think!
