We are in North Dakota right now. Hubby and kids are at the races (stock car type) with my dad and in-laws of various shapes, sizes and genders. My mom and I, being of VERY sound mind, are relaxing at home. Ha.
Just have to post about our too-short visit to Rochester. Our friends Donald and Stacy opened their home to us, but then went WAY beyond the call of duty and invited about 50 people, some of whom were total strangers, to a potluck for us.
It was SOOOOO much fun. I got to hold babies -- little Thomas, the youngest at just under a month, sweet little Alexandra, and Kenan, aka Harry. That kid has sooo much hair! And he smiled at me so I was completely smitten. It doesn't hurt that his dad is *incredibly* handsome. Hey Kristine, he really is fab. Hang onto him, ok?
My oldest son had his friend Emma show up -- a complete surprise, and so cool. I caught them sitting on the stairs at one point, whispering to each other. So cute.
Middle son Evan's dance class friend Rachel came, too. What fun to see them together along with about 30 other kids, running and playing. My other friend Christine (with a "C") was happy to be there with her 4 kids while her husband was in San Jose. LOL
I had ordered photos to be printed and mailed to Stacy's house so I could crop with friends Thursday night, but they didn't make it until today. (Boo to you, Creative Memories AND Snapfish!). So I hung out in the scraproom, drank some wine, and generally made a nuisance of myself until approximately 3 am. Oh, and in that time Spence had some kind of allergic reaction and was wheezing so bad Stacy got her stethoscope out and we ended up nebulizing the poor kid. It is GOOD to have friends who are RNs. He has seemed fine since.
Too much fun. We stopped at our house, too, and the tenants (who moved out in January) had grouted my kitchen backsplash. It is beautiful. Happy happy. BTW, the backsplash is tumbled travertine marble (which may or may not make up for the fact that the countertops are Formica). And did I mention the flooring is vinyl? I love that, too. Oooh, the IDFP (that would be Interior Decorating Fashion Police) are really gonna be after me now. LOL Wait 'til I tell them I once had a stainless steel side-by-side refrigerator and I hated it. Sacrilege. Ha.
Potter is out -- Rob and I will read it to each other aloud, as usual. Looking forward to that, but haven't purchased it yet. Don't want to lug it back to CA.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also out. More about my Johnny Depp obsession later, complete with a list of his best movies in my Not-so-Humble opinion. Suffice it to say I embrace his weirdness with so much love.....
Later!
Glad you had fun at home. I love Johnny Depp too. I wish they ran 21 Jump Street on TV Land.
ReplyDeleteStopped by for the first time. Great site. I like opinionated people - as long as they don't bite MY head off. So what was wrong with your stainless steel appliances? When our 28 year old fridge dies, I was thinking of getting one.
