The weekend was spent packing. I did laundry and printed out a copy of my standard packing list for the boys. (Have I mentioned previously that I am WAAAAY anal?) Anyway, I started packing, did some mending that needed to be done, and pulled down a bunch of boxes from a closet to stuff in the suitcases.
I guess I haven't mentioned before that while I currently live in San Jose, CA with my husband and 3 sons, our REAL life is "Back East" (as they say out here). We are on temporary assignment with my husband's company from 2004-2006. Then we will move back to our home in Minnesota.
So the boxes consist of a bunch of family pictures (related to the genealogy obsession that grips me periodically) that need to go back to our house and sit in storage until I have time to go through them. Judging by my life in general at this time, it will be somewhere around 2030.
So the boys' suitcase is packed with photos, clothes, a couple of bottles of 2-Buck-Chuck (cheap wine, in case you haven't heard of it), and even Rob is packed and ready to go.
He cleaned out the garage, got all of our beach accoutrements ready for the next trip, and even finished the 3rd drawer for my scrapbook shelving unit. All I need to do is Mod Podge some fun papers on the drawer fronts and add some funky knobs. I'll post pix eventually.
I am partially packed -- but the level of my scrapbooking disease is evident as my scrapbooking bag is packed and ready to go. Priorities, people. Of course it will be a carry-on, because I could never trust my precious loot to the airlines ... naturally the scissors and cutting blades will be stored separately. Wouldn't want the airlines to think I would hijack a plane with a Creative Memories cutting blade and detail scissors LOL.
And this is so fun -- my mother-in-law is coming back here with us. She has never ridden in a limo in her life, so we are riding home from the airport in a Lincoln stretch. Now THAT'S gonna be an event to scrap.
Next update will likely be from the high plains. I can hear faint strains of "Home on the Range" right now.
Have a great trip!
