Garden and a big milestone

We got the garden in last night. Heirloom tomatoes, Sun Gold cherry tomatoes, a couple of varieties of beefsteak style tomatoes, green onions, bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, corn, peas, green beans, lettuce, broccoli ... I am eager for it to look like more than a big patch of dirt with a few scraggly weeds sticking out of it.

After I took some pictures we put up rabbit fencing to keep the little critters out. We are hopeful it will also keep the deer away until the plants are taller and we have to find a better solution.

The tall ferny things in front of the rhubarb are asparagus. We have hopes of harvesting some next year ... thus far it's been 2 years of waiting with no visible results. Any experienced asparagus growers out there? I need your wisdom, please.

And in other news:
This is my 1,000th post! ( I guess I need to learn how make blinkies or something...)

I know.

Crazy.

I know I have not been a good blogger lately. Life has gotten in the way. But I am inspired by Careless, who is trying to blog daily, and so I will try, too, even if it's just a little bit.
